The opening night, 3-24-01, of U2's Elevation tour was spectacular. The band opened with Elevation in a casual way. After about 30 seconds in the song, the lights went out and the crowd roared even more. Highlights of the concert include: Sunday Bloody Sunday, where Bono had taken a fan's Irish flag and waved it around; Bono's energetic run around the heart; the riveting performance of Gone; Bono running through the General Admission crowd outside the heart; the usual extraordinary performance of Where the Streets Have No Name; the Rattle and Hum-like memory of Bullet the Blue Sky; and above all, the AWESOME closing of Walk On. The low points included: the unfortunate mishap where Bono fell off the stage; the beginning of the Fly; not hearing All I Want is You; and not having a more mysterious, darker, opening of the concert (rather than having the house lights remain on at the beginning of Elevation). Overall, a great concert. I definitely enjoyed hearing the new songs and even the recent songs since I missed the Popmart tour. I would definitely recommend this concert to a die-hard U2 fan or even a casual U2 listener.
