This was my first ever U2 show and my 2nd ever concert overall, I was 14.
I still remember it well and I always get goosebumps when I think of hearing those opening strains of the 'Streets' intro and the euphoria of the crowd at that moment. People standing on the seats and roaring in anticipation, pretty mad stuff to a 14 year old but I felt absolutely safe and at home there. I was about halfway back on the floor but remember being able to see quite well and was totally absorbed in the show. It's also cherished memory because my Dad was with me that night..he got dragged along with me slightly against his will but absolutely loved it and has been a U2 fan ever since.
Other random things : 'Maggie's Farm' with Edge doing his 'Radio Edge' guitar! 'Knocking On Heavens Door' with the local guy from the crowd playing along on guitar, and singing '40' all the way out of the arena and to the carpark....and the morning after depression when you realised you had to go to school again!
The NEC is not the best of venues but that night to me as a 14 year old boy it seemed like heaven.
