Columbus was my fourth elevation show, and after seeing the best U2 show of my life in Pittsburgh, all I can do is simply call Columbus, Ohio a great show. I think U2 fans are quite aware that Bono and company make their appearances in the United States every four or five years, and this is why you have many U2 fans trying to see as many shows as possible.
For this show, I was right at the tip of the heart. Every song they played all night was heartfelt, almost driving some to tears. Stuck in a Moment and New York are turning out to be my favorites off the tour. The crowd even started chanting the "Oh Oh Oh" before Bono even began to sang the song Stay. I love how they do Desire with the blues underpinnings. A fan right in front of me was lucky enough to get Bono's harmonica after Desire.
I think U2 fans understand that Bono, Edge, Larry, and Adam are not in their mid-twenties anymore, and the amount of tours they have left in them are limited. You know something: I really believe that after all of this is said and done, and U2 is ready to go back and record another album, they can top Elevation. Everyone said they could not top Zoo TV and they did. Everyone said that they could not make their way back to the top, and look where they are again.
The Elevation Tour is already marking itself down as legendary, nothing less for U2.
See you in Chicago, first night.
