"Wow, after I jumped, it occured to me: life is perfect. Life is the best, full of magic and beauty, opportunity and television, and surprises, lots of surprises, yeah. And then there's the best stuff, of course, better than anything anyone ever made up 'cause it's real." - Bono, Million Dollar Hotel.
Well, life is real. Life is very real. And full of surprises.
One surprise this tour was the inclusion of Miss Sarajevo in the war segement. Prompting Bono to deliver his best vocal EVER, night after night.
Another surprise came LAST NIGHT. In Oakland of all places. Not my hometown (I am from Bombay (via London), here on business). Last night U 2played my favorite song of all time. Not just my favorite U2 song, but my favorite song EVER... "One Tree Hill." It was terrible. It was only a snippet after "One." Probably .45 percent of the audience evern knew the song. But I knew it. And I love the fact that they played it. Hopefully this song will reappear in the comin gmonths as a full-band version, much like on the Love Town or JT tours. I assume this was included to get ready for their '06 New Zealand visit, but who knows. It was the highlight of the show for me. And the highlight of my entire life. Those 156 seconds.
