I became a U2 fan in late 1993. I became very interested in their music, and longed for the day when I could see them in concert. I waited 3.5 long years, but the day finally came in Columbus at "the shoe", back when it was still a horse shoe. It's now 2003 that I'm writing this, so it's been over six years, but the details never stop flowing through my head.
I remember walking in the stadium, and just being totally blown away by the stage. It was enormous! The setlist was all that I could've hoped for....Bono was on fire the whole night, as was Edge. I was surprised at how little Adam interacted with the crowd, let alone how little he moved at all.
To all the naysayers of Popmart, I just have to say that it changed that 16-year-old
kid's life that night, and realized that U2's music gave him something to believe in and live by. And the show, though not sold out, was 80 - 90% sold out. The newspaper reported that over 50,000 were there. I thought that was pretty good, considering the Ohio Stadium is gigantic.
