My 10th U2 concert. My second this tour. The band always amazes me -- a very different concert than Indy. Thumbs up: -- Auburn Hills has great acoustics to this ear. Indy was horrid. -- Bono talked more, improvised more. I love his impromptu one-liners (as contrasted with his planned remarks). -- The Fly in the encore. Works well there, guys. -- Three songs from POP. -- Acknowledging (unintentionally) those of us from Ohio. Thumbs down: -- Auburn Hills parking which bordered on criminal. Hundreds paid $7 and had no place to park, no help in parking. -- Security at Auburn Hills. I got the impression from Bono's comments about security that the comments were not actually meant to be positive -- that this is the reason the show did not occur as usual more from the ramps -- with people on stage. At Indy Bono led a conga line of 35 women around the heart and danced with several at other times. -- Michigan highways that reduce three lanes to one and do so three times in 30 miles. -- No "New Year's Day" -- The audience at the arena. On the floor and in about a third of the seats, it was the usual U2 awesome crowd -- but beyond it was the most subdued crowd I've seen since Cleveland on the JT Tour. It was also the heaviest smell of pot I've experienced in 10 U2 concerts. dr owl
