Wow!! The last U2 concert I went to was the Rattle and Hum tour. This concert was just as great, if not better. We had seats behind the stage and were a little worried that we would not be able to see well, but trusted that the band would not let us down. We were not disappointed!! Besides, who could be disappointed with looking at Bono's backside for two hours. Not me!!
I love the way they set up the stage. People all over the arena were able to see the stage, even through the retractable curtains of lights that they used to accent some of the songs.
The songs U2 played were an excellent compilation of their work so far. Electric Co. and other early songs were a big hit. My favorite songs included a rocking rendition of Love and Peace or Else where Larry and Bono played a single drum and cymbal out on the ellipse.
The crowd was awesome. I think we showed Bono, The Edge, Larry, and Adam what an outstanding crowd they can have in Detroit any night of the week. Let's hope they return soon!!
I am also a former member of Amnesty International and love the fact that Bono has not lost sight of the importance of such an organization and that ensuring basic human rights is still a vital agenda for him. If you haven't already, check out www.theonecampaign.org. Together, we can change the world for the better!!
