My love affair with this band has been a rocky one. Being nearly 42 years old I have been with this band longer than some fans have been alive. The songs have meant so much to me and have gotten me through some rough spots in my life. The love affair went sour during what I call the "Lemon" years. Although the band soared in POPularity, the songs had little place in my life until ATYCLB and HTDAAB brought things full circle for me. Last night was the first time I saw my beloved band, I was awe-struck. My position was front row at the tip of the ellipse. The sound was magnificent and the view was stunning. Bono appeared directly in front of me at the start of the show, it was amazing. The song list was great and the banter between songs was not at all annoying or as lenghty as some reviews suggest. The new songs were meant to be played live, as it was evident in numbers such as Crumbs and my favorite song of the night, LAPOE. There were so many overwhelming moments during the show, but the absoulte highlight that broke me to tears was at the end of One when I heard Bono nearly whisper the lyrics to MLK. Sleep, sleep tonight and my your dreams be realized.
