I still can't believe it... It's just like having lived a dream...
I had already taken part to the U2 concert in Rome... and I was happy and that was goog enough but then my boyfriend suggested to go to Nice too. I thought it was a crazy decision as I knew there were no mo tickets available but then I said "ok let's try". I spent so many hours trying to buy tickets from ebay.. but the prices were so high. Then we decided to go anyway and try the last chance on the spot in case someone had one spare ticket to sell.
We left Siena at 6.00 in the morning and by 12.00 we were in Nice. There were already so many people crowded in front of the gates and I felt miserable without tickets and the realization that for the 6th time I would have watched the show outside the first ring.. But then everything turned out the best way: we found the tickets (at a reasonable price!!!) and when we entered the stadium I noticed that sooo many people were stopping at the merchandise stands o jus gathered. And we run, we run... into the FIRST RING.. my hands were skaking I almost cried I couldn't believe it!!!!!!!!
Then there seemed to be big problems with the sound beacuse it was terrible and I think this is the reason why U2 started their show later than in Rome.. But luckily for us the sound was all right when it was U2 turn.
When they entered the stage I was so thrilled... I couldn't believe my eyes..It was such a shock to see them so close! To see their faces.. and Bono's energy pouring towards everyone of us. They were GREAT as always!!
It was a pity they didn't play "All I want is you".. (in Rome they had and it was wonderful) and I thought they were going to sing something else perhaps like "Until the end of the world".. but they didn't.. :-(
I felt also a bit jealous because Bono speakes French better than Italian.. even if he wa so briliant in Miss Sarajevo! He is so great singing Pavarotti's part. And it was such a thrill to sing along in Italian with him!
The only thing I didn't like was the continuous showers the French security gave us before the beginning of the show... too much is too much. One was enough but not so many!! And also to get out of the premises at the end was awful, worst than getting in.
Anyway I will always remember Nice because of the proximity to the stage.. that was the best concert in terms of excitement but I liked better the Rome's one as regards the general atmosphere, the passion of the crowd, (in Rome we were so mamy) the impressiveness of the stadium (the Olympic Stadium is really huge!) and the magic moment Bono rememberd John Paul II..
Thanks U2 for the Fire!
