U2 in Calgary April 10, 2001
Edge had on a 7 shirt tonight. He was 5 on Monday. Maybe he will be a 9 on Friday in Vancouver.
Show was awesome
Bono had the same energy level - truly amazing. I was beat and I didn't run around the stage the night before. Just as magnetic as the previous show!
Bono's voice was perfect.
Bono did a lot more talking this show. The funniest thing was when he was introducing Larry. He was "….before we were a little band called U2 we were the Hype. And before that we were Feedback which comes form THAT side of the stage (Edge's side). And before that - and as a singer this is hard for me to say - we were THE LARRY MULLEN, JR. BAND!!!!!" Lots of screaming.
For Edge he said something about him being "the Scientist of the band….the man who gains sexual pleasure from BETA". Hysterical. Everyone howled.
The added songs for this show were: "Even Better than the Real Thing". "The Ground Beneath her Feet" and Pride for the SECOND ENCORE! And "All I Need is You" so that was a real treat .
Bono said something about "Canada being with us since out first single."
And then "Canada is a big country and a generous country. And we have BIG music to fill it!" and they started up with "Even Better than the Real Thing". Very cool.
Bono said most of the Edge's children were there tonight.
My seat was row 2 off the floor about 30 feet from the tip of the ramp so I took pictures of the show just to record a new perspective.
Walk On was the last song and the had GIANT lyrics projected onto the crowd. Very cool!
Edge and Bono sang acoustic Ground Beneath her feet at the point of the heart ramp. Delicious!
Bono danced with a 12-year-old girl. I think. (Some fans say it was ALI!!!!)So cute. He bowed and kissed her hand later.
He danced with a 18 or 20 year old girl (Was THIS ALI???)
I had a view of the overhead screens. Four black and white videos with each band member on a screen. (Edge, Larry, Bono, Adam left to right)
Bono picked up a large white from the audience and carried around on his back.
During one instead of changing the lyrics to "…Did you come her to play Jesus/I did" he said "have you come here to play Jesus/have you come to raise the dead/have you come here forgiveness/I DID". Lots of cheers.
Bono played Rock, Paper, and Scissors with a fan.
Two encores as I mentioned. That was treat.
A super charged evening! Equal but different from April 9.
