It's weeks after the U2 shows in Calgary and I still can't stop thinking about them. I have to admit that I wasn't the biggest U2 fan out there. I was just accompanying my 2 best friends to the show, I figured, it's U2, might as well. I MUST say that after the concert I was DEFINITLY converted to a die-hard U2 fan for life!!
It was amazing. We were lucky enough to get floor tickets and we braved a few hours in the biting wind so that we would get a good spot on floor. We were just to the right to the tip of the heart, and even though I had to crane my neck to see the band, it was totally and completely worth it.
During "Ground Beneath her Feet" I'm proud to say that Bono and the Edge were RIGHT in front of us, just out of our reach. Bono was also right in front of us during "New York" when the sheer screens came down.
However, I don't think it mattered where you were anywhere during the show. The stage set up was ingenous, with the 'heart' formation and all. It was beautiful. The set up was so simple and uncomplicated. It didn't matter where you were inside the Saddledome during the show - near or far - everyone was totally taking part in the experience.
I would say that my FAVOURITE part of that night's show was when they came back and broke into "Pride". I have never experienced a more rapturous moment in my life. Everyone around me was singing along...it was just beautiful, beautiful. I have read this in many other reviews already, but when Bono sang that one line, "did you come here to play Jesus/I did" everyone just howled.
I don't think that anyone was disappointed with the show at all. I am definitly enlightened. Words cannot even describe... I don't know how U2 keeps topping themselves, but they keep managing to do it! Awesome!!
