WOW!
Last night's show was incredible, leaving me with an indescribable feeling of nostalgia and bittersweetness after counting down the days before the concert for months. We literally had tears in our eyes during 'One' and 'Walk On' when we knew the show was at its conclusion. I never wanted it to end!
I've been a U2 fan for as long as I can remember, and this show was the highlight of my fan career. (Well, that and meeting Edge at The Kitchen, the nightclub he and Bono own in Dublin) Bono was in top shape after a few day rest, and his voice sent chills through us throughout the entire show.
I was in the $135 Gold Circle seats, a little farther back than the end of the heart, but still had a great view of the show. We had a sign for Adam, but unfortunately I don't think Bono saw it.
The highlight for me was 'Bad' which I knew they were going to play, but didn't imagine how amazing it would sound live. I wish they had changed the set list little to add some surprises - I would have killed to hear 'Still haven't found...,' 'Pride' and 'All I Want is You,' but the combination of new material and old classics kept the crowd on their feet.
After 'Sweetest Thing' Bono said, "That was the most expesive apology in history. I wrote that for the misses, after forgetting her birthday. When I gave it to her, she wanted the copy and publishing rights." I loved hearing him play the piano on the song - something he's never done for previous tours.
I thought he was going to bring up someone to dance with him during 'With or Without You' but instead he just crouched down to touch the outstretched arms of hundreds of fans. But during one, a guy jumped on stage and put his arms around Bono while he was playing - Bono just layed his head back on his shoulder before the guy kissed his cheek and jumped off. I'm not sure if that was planned or not, but it looked pretty awkward.
All in all, the best night I've had in years. If you're contemplating going, make every effort because it's a show you'll regret missing.
If anyone has information how to possibly get tickets to Boston or NYC, please let me know. I can't imagine going another four years before seeing them again!
~Cheers
