I will readily admit that my experience last night is entirely influenced by the fact that my wife and I were among the "chosen few" in the inner circle. We were one row deep, close enough to strum a few bass chords ourselves. A surprise treat that still has me buzzing and distracted.
It's been a while since my last show, so I can't compare to other more recent tours. My view of the entire package (set design, etc.) was obviously limited, as was overall crowd reaction (the 200 or so folks around me certainly seemed to enjoy themselves!).
All that being said, I thought the show was as good, if not better, than the publicity build up in local press the past few days. Heck even the weather mirrored the 83 Red Rocks show which was tauted so forcefully in press all weekend long. The 30 minute or so stretch from NYD to Streets was perhaps the best live music experience I've witnessed in a very long time. As an old school fan I hoped to walk out with a smile and a sore throat from belting out lyrics of favorite tunes from distant past. I was not disappointed. Sure there were some glitches, and songs I could've done without - but I got every penny back that I put in and much, much more.
For all those with GA tix for future shows - may all the good karma you've built up return a favor your way when you enter the stadium and learn your fate!
