I went to both Denver shows and I must say that this show was much better than the first night. In fact, it was perfection. The audience, the band, the setlist were a notch better than the first night. When all three elements of a concert come together like that you are in for a real treat. To top it all of I was one of the chosen few to get into the bomb shelter. It literally is a different show from inside the bomb shelter. May the luck of the Irish shine on you when they scan your GA ticket.
They started the night with City of Blinding Lights which I think is a better first song than Love and Peace. They blasted through Beautiful Day, Vertigo, Elevation and Gloria with amazing energy. What a treat it was to hear Gloria. The set list flowed very smoothly. A mix of old and new. The war trilogy of Love and Peace, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Bullet the Blue Sky was very powerful, especially Love and Peace. Running to Stand Still is a particular favorite of mine but the real highlight of the show was Bad. Wow! It was one of the best versions I ever heard. Bono also pulled up the same child from the previous night and told him to stay exactly as his is now and not to change. What a moving moment. The double encores worked better than one 6 song encore.
Overall, the band was tighter and enjoying themselves more. Adam was always smiling. The audience was much more energetic. They sang 40 much longer and louder than the first night. Evertyhing came together perfectly. It was the best U2 show of my life. And I have seen every tour since Unforgettable Fire.
