I've been a fan of U2 since the spring of 1984 when a friend with a walkman and two headphones played Under a Blood Red Sky for me on a bus trip for school. I remember singing all of the "Oh"s to Gloria loudly on the bus then. And last night in Denver for my first u2 concert ever, I got to sing those "Oh"s again!
I was dead center back from the stage in the lower bowl behind the mixer. It was great to get the full effect of the show. The sound was as good as can be for an arena. I loved the setlist, but I think they could have played "Twinkle little star" and it would have been great.
My favorites, "Bad" and "Where the Streets...". The energy generated by Streets that finished with a big "Wow!" from Bono was a real highlight. I loved the interaction with the crowd, the boy on the ellipse, the girl dancing with Bono.
The mention of Red Rocks and how that show changed everything was sweet. And that snippet of "Blackbird" at the end of "Beautiful Day"( I think).
A magical evening that I won't soon forget!
For all the critics out there that have seen multiple shows... don't forget how special just going to one show is.
Enjoy the photos. E-mail me if you have questions or want higher-resoultion versions. I have many more but these were the best.
