2nd night.. much better show and much better crowd than the first. Truly Amazing. This is the third time I have seen them on this tour and I can tell you that minus the not knowing the set list aspect of the first night in San Diego, this was the best of all the shows. They are much looser and confident with their playing (in all my years seeing U2 I have never seen Adams move around as much as he did last night) and the sound - even in front of the ellipse- was awesome.
As for the actual set list... after the Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree tours I have to admit that I was a bit tired of Gloria, but they really made it come alive last night and hearing the Ocean live, which in a million years I never thought I would hear, was mind blowing. The anti-war theme during Love and Peace, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bullet the Blue Sky and Hands that Built America is really powerful and moving. Further, this combined with the political economic and physical call for justice in Pride, Streets and One also really connects with the other themes throughout the night. The only thing that would make his dedication to the troops in Iraq before Running to Stand Still more complete and much more relevant with the other themes of the night would be to also dedicate it to the Iraqi people who are also suffering.
Finally, "40" is the absolute best way to close the show. Unlike the first night when the lights went up sooner, this night the lights were kept off longer and the end result was that the crowd was really into singing it. Needless to say, it was a perfect end to a perfect show.
