ELEVATION - ONE MILE HIGH !!
A very long day that started off badly and had an outstanding ending!!
Pepsi center - have you ever done this before? No line allowed to form until 8:00? Take the "Courtesy Patrol" sticker off that truck, OK? Thanks. What does the Pepsi center gain by inconveniencing fans? We were made to put up all our chairs/food/etc. at 3:00, three hours before they opened the doors. Why? Just in case waiting 12 hours wasn't fun enough on it's own? The line was allowed to jam up to the doors about 15 people wide, so people just moved on up! People who arrived at 2:00 pm were allowed to go throw the doors with people who got there in the middle of the night. We fans are the ones with the money - y'all should take better care of us. We follow your rules, y'all could try to follow ours.
Anyway - This was one of the funnest groups of GA fans I've been around. Thanks to #'s 13 & 16 for the krispy kreme's, and thanks to everyone for their humor.
The girl in the NYPD hat, if anyone saw her, is my girlfriend, Amanda. Here's what happened to her: Bono comes over to our side of the heart during the second verse of Until the End of The World. He's looking into the heart, makes eye contact with Amanda, and stops. He sings the second half of the verse while looking into her eyes and slowly kneeling down. She's reaching up to him and singing along. He lays down, still looking at her, and opens his mouth towards her hand, like "I'm gonna bite those fingers". Edge has started his solo, Bono's still looking at Amanda's fingers. She reaches further, and he slowly puts her fingers in his mouth - and bites them!! Our whole little area went nuts! She was getting hugged and high fived and ohmygodded, and I realize that I totally flamed out on the picture front. Look at the one photo I got of it - a rediculous extreme close up. If anyone (Otto!!) has any photos they could e-mail me I would really be grateful. It was an amazing moment. The whole show was really a blur after that.
Some memories:
Bubba (fat guy in a little coat):"you are the chosen ones"
The No Doubt drummer in a diaper. Fashion statement or bladder issue?
Bono and Edge couldn't get on the same page with the chorus of Wild Honey, Bono kept smiling and waiting to see how Edge was going to sing it then coming in with him, and he let Edge sing the bridge by himself, which he didn't seem ready for. When the were done, Bono turned around and said: "A little scratchy, that one".
Bono's voice was GREAT. I have not always written that as the case, but last night he sounded great! High parts of Stuck, One, and he sang "Memphis sky-y" like the recorded version.
After All Along the Watchtower, Bono says "Your cool Sean, but we need the guitar back now".
At the end of One, Bono plays and sings a verse of Watchtower by himself as the names finish scrolling.
"We wanted to see if the same feeling was in the air here in Denver - it's even better!"
Another great show, another religous experience, another two days with no voice.
Thanks as always to the great fans, and please help me out with a picture or two of "Bono Bites" if you can! Thanks!!
