This was, by far, the best U2 show I've seen. That's hard to say with only one prior U2 concert experience.
I saw U2 for the first time in Chicago, IL at Soldier Field on June 27. I thought the Detroit show was better for a couple of points. For one, they seemed more prepared to rock and the crowd was, too. Another point is that it was LARRY'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!! I'm a big Larry fan, in case you didn't know. The show was amazing, the fact that it was Halloween also added to the atmosphere. The crowd, along with the band, sang "Happy Birthday" to Larry twice, the second time when they exited the "disco-lemon". As Larry climbed out of the lemon, he was greeted with a birthday cake, complete with 36 candles, and a kiss from Ann, his girlfriend.
A major highlight of the show for me was when Edge did a solo "Sunday Bloody Sunday," it was truly touching. "All I Want Is You" was also a treat. To close out the show they did "Wake Up Dead Man" with the chorus and the first verse. I can't wait till my next show, I don't know when it is yet, but I hope it's soon!
