After reading the reviews, they seem really mixed. Not so much musically, but the crowd. Either they were fantastic, or they were awful. I guess it all depended on where you were in the place, but from where I was at the crowd was terrific. Though I will say, I am dissapointed that my parents and a few friends of mine had their experience ruined by a drunk and rowdy bunch.
In response to one of the reviewers saying that this was the concert to be seen at...it is true. This show has been hyped up here more than any other concert. Paul McCartney played in Nebraska for the first time 2 months ago and the Rolling Stones are going to be playing next month, but there was no where near the hype for them. I know a lot of people who are fans who would have liked to have gone and I know of some people who are not and are going, so it's unfortunate that it had to happen that way. Another thing...the show was during finals week at the University of Nebraska, and I think that might explain for the lack of energy...but that didn't necessarily affect me :-)
Anyways, perhaps because I'm a Nebraskan and biased, I thought the band was fantastic, and they seemed impressed by the crowd. I was in the elipse up on the rail, so I could see the facial reactions clearly. I'd never seen Edge look as happy as he did last night...he looked like he was having fun. Bono was his usual self jumping around, and would said several times "Omaha Nebraska" which got the crowd roaring. Adam looked a bit bored at first, but he soon warmed up and looked like he was having a good time. Larry was just Larry LOL. The highlight for me was the snippet of All I Want is You...I would have loved to have heard the whole song, but I can't complain. Plus, it looked like Bono was having a hard time remembering the lyrics. Streets was another highlight...the crowd noise was deafening, and I saw Bono put his hands over his ears.
Overall, it was my greatest show. Then again, I'm a bit biased seeing I'm a Nebraskan born and raised and they've never played out here. I've traveled to Kansas City, Denver and Chicago, so it was nice being able to sleep in my home after a show for once. I feel bad for those whose experiences were marred by unruly friends, because they missed out on a great show. Hopefully in the future the Omaha crowds will be a bit less wild.
