When it was announced U2 was coming to Omaha Nebraska of all places,it was the event of the year.Naturally tickets sold out in minutes.I was depressed I wasn't able to get any,and the day of the show my mom surprised me with tickets as an early Christmas present.Anticipation and elation bubbled through my veins. My husband and I just recently turned 30, but we were both so giddy,I hate that word, but we were like kids again. We figured our seats would be in the nose bleed section, which wouldn't have mattered as long as we could just get in.The Qwest center was Omaha's very expensive new arena so we had no idea what the set up would be. Grown adults were running to get into line. I have never seen so many happy people all in one place. We walked through all the security lines and then we were in. The main floor right in front of the stage. I could not believe it. The stage was right there, we touched it. This surely was a mistake, we weren't supposed to be here. But it wasn't, and through the surrealness I kissed my husband and we both started jumping up and down and squealing like I don't know what. My chest felt like it was gonna burst open, my heart was beating so hard and so fast. And when they appeared on stage, the same stage that we touched,it was the closest thing to an out of body experience I'll ever have. The ability to stir up so much emotion in people you've never met just with words...it was phenomenal. He would have you screaming your head off one minute, singing along to every song...then after a short bit about peace and religion and how truly simple a concept it is, he had you in tears. I have never been a religious person, I despise it due to it's fatal warmonging causes, but to hear him speaking from his heart, not preaching but reminding us how precious life is, all life and how we have a responsibility to take care of each other. He makes unity seem possible. Charisma is such a strong virtue and he uses all he has to make the world a better place for people who deserve to be saved that the rest of the world have forgotten. It was an amazing crusade and one I will tell my great grandkids about. We heard every song we wanted old and new. Music can be very therapeutic for the soul and for our generation U2's extraordinary healing power has done wonders. If you have any means to see them in concert,do it.
