WOW! That pretty much sums up the experience at the Rose Bowl! The whole day was an amazing experience. I read the other posts and while everyone is entitled to their opinions it seems like there were a couple of people whinning excessively and no matter what U2 did it would not have mattered to them.
I have not missed a tour since '83. You can still feel the fire in the band. No it's not 1983, 1984, 1987 or 2001 (post 9/11) when those tours were more politically charged more than other tours, but the messages were still there. If you GA homers actually spent some time walking around the Rose Bowl instead of feeling sorry of yourselves that you got hosed out of a "line" you were in for 24+ hours, you would have seen the Amnesty and One booths (among others) out there spreading their messages. Seriously if you have that much time on your hands, get out there, do something and quit whining...or better yet stay home next time.
As for the show, I have many muscial tastes. I actually like some of the Black Eyes Peas material and have never seen them live. After last night, I never will again. They were a bunch of clowns on stage. Fergie "channeling" Axel Rose, as one reviewer stated...you can't be serious! That was horrible. That shows you how far Slash has actually fallen. We were sitting in lower Sec. 4 next to the stage and it did not even look like the Peas were actually singing...it looked lip-synched. The Peas were like a bad aerobics class with Richard Simmons. Regretfully we will never get that 50-minutes back.
U2...love the David Bowie intro! That stage was amazing. Judging from how good the sound check was, we knew it was going to be a great night. Perhaps the YouTube broadcast and DVD recording may have had something to do with that - who knows. I feel lucky to have been a part of it with the 100,000 or so others who were there.
The whole set list was tight! Bono teased us with a little bit of In God's Country...it would have been great to hear that in it's entirity. Unforgetable Fire is still one of my favorites...that was amazing to hear live! Sunday Bloody Sunday is always special live. Last night was no different. It was an amazing experience and hard to single out moments when there were so many.
It looks like Anaheim is on the schedule for next Spring...can't wait!
