They weren't as bad as the grouches say and they weren't as good as the zealots say.
Like I expected, better than Phoenix. My wife summed it up: it was a quiet crowd whose noise didn't match its size.
Could be an L.A. thing. People know show business here. They observe but don't always react. Like a comic who does not laugh at a joke, but acknowledges "That's funny."
I was in Red Zones twice, and the unbearable circle of pain once on this tour. This time I was on the goal line, opposite the stage, about 20 rows up.
I've been spoiled. I loved what I saw, but it soon began to feel like a big cinema.
Any honest fan would agree that this would be more fun at the L.A. Sports Arena.
Of course the Rose Bowl is awful. It was built about 85 years ago. Aisles are tiny, amenities sparse. We parked in a nice neighborhood two miles away and walked in. That actually made sense.
Still love U2. Imagine I'll follow them up the West Coast next summer...but there was something missing last night...
