I think the show was definitely one of the best I've been to. I was in the Mexico city popmart tour in 97 the night it was filmed and that for me was the loudest crowd I've experienced. So I naturally felt that 96,500 would over power the 88k in the "foro sol". Unfortunately it didn't seem like it, it was loud, just not louder than back then. I must have been really close to "Randy W" (from previous review) since I was behind the porter potties as well (#827) in a party of 4. This was the first time I had GA tickets and everything was fine until the whole stampede extravaganza which he accurately described so I won’t talk about that.
This was my wife's first concert and I have to say that the crowd ruined it for both of us! I got in the inner circle on Adams side. Staff event where completely incompetent when it came to the inner circle. Way too many people in there. I could barely move! And I stepped on the girl behind me probably like 4 times! People walked by like it was a subway station. It was really hard to enjoy the show and get in the groove. I saw Adam a lot and I could see his enjoyment and happiness. I saw the energy in Bono's eyes. I saw the cool in Larry and Egde seemed unstoppable, but I couldn't get there. For example when beautiful day began I was so excited ready to sing and suddenly some dude starts making his way right next to us and started pushing people to get by so I naturally looked over and held my wife until he passed and just like that the song was over!!! And it happened every other song! I couldn't believe it! I didn't enjoy it at all. And to make things worse neither did my wife! Plus I saw people from the Red Zone with silver bracelets and people without bracelets in the circle which was supper disappointing.
I won't do GA again unless it's an arena or Europe or Latin America.
I know this was my personal experience, I felt like the people just 6 feet in front of me must have lived an incredible experience completely different from mine., but they didn't have wino's coming and going every other song.
The band played incredibly, the energy was there but the crowd did seem a little mellow and rose bowl staff in my experience was horrible with the whole line thing and security to get in the inner circle. I waited 4 years for this show. 12 to be in a stadium show and I feel disappointed I now have to wait to see the show I went to on DVD!!!
I'm going back to the Denver show, I have to give myself another chance. Because live is where U2 lives.
