I thought that this concert was great. I've been to three U2 shows, Popmart, Elevation, and now Vertigo, and I thought that this one just as good, maybe a little better, as the others.
What really did it for me was the ONE campaign 'sermon.' I know a lot of people don't want to hear Bono going on and on about the poverty of the world, but I don't see how you can be a fan and not get the messages of the music that they've been playing for 25 years and not be somewhat inspired. I personally like the humanitarian issues that U2 and Bono put forth in the their work, and if anything I'm more disappointed that the other previous concerts did not push the social issues like they did at this concert.
The show itself; I was a little concerned at the opening with City of Blinding Lights - Bono's voice sounded a little old. But by the next song he was up a going again. There are certainly two songs to retire - WOWY and Mysterious Ways. I was really happy that they didn't play many songs off of their new album, which I'm not a fan of. The concert was more energetic than their last two CD's, which is a good thing.
Yay! Merry Chirstmas everyone!
