What a show! I've been to 4 this tour (San Jose 1 and 2, Oakland 2, and now this one), and I would feel wrong comparing them because they were all so special in their own ways. The highlights of this show for me were:
* The sing-alongs. Wow this crowd sounded good! They (we) were like a choir. So clean! Such unison! ISHFWILF, Pride, Help, and 40 especially stood out!
* Love and Peace --> SBS - Dang! These songs were the greatest moments of this tour to me. SBS is infectious - a song you hear with your whole body, blood, and soul.
* Miss Sarejevo - Who would have thought this song could be so awesome live?
* Help - What a perfect tribute to their crew!
* Instant Karma - Wow this sounded good!
* Until the End of the World - First time hearing this song live and it lived up to everything I've heard about it as a great live song.
* Yahweh --> 40 - Yahweh is such a beautiful song, and 40 was the best song of the night for me. I went to sleep with it going through my head and woke up with it in my head the next morning. I was actually afraid they were going to close with something more energetic, and I don't know if I could have handled it because I was so tired from jumping up and down the entire show. But this ending was the PERFECT one. It sounded so clean, so heavenly. Bono adding "to my Lord" made the worshipful aura of the song inescapable - he certainly got my hands and eyes raised - and Larry's solo was awesome.
* The acoustics were very good, and I was at the very top of the arena.
* Bono thanking so many crew members by name - probably 40-50 of them! That says a lot about him and about the band. I think one thing that makes Bono such an attractive individual is that he genuinely sees himself as no greater or less in the eyes of his Creator than anyone else in the world - whether it be someone dying of AIDS in Africa, someone in the audience, his fellow bandmates, or someone in the stage set-up crew. I think that when he looks around him, he really sees all these people as children of God - much more than I do most of the time at least.
My only complaint was that the people around me didn't give enough back to the band - lots of sitting in my section (They probably hated me for standing and jumping [out of rhythm] and singing [way outside of my range] the whole time, but I wish they would have done the same.)
Thanks to the band and the crew for standing for everything that is good in this world and for such beautiful shows!
Question for anyone else: Did you hear the song that was playing on the P.A. system directly after the show? I didn't know the song, but I swear it was Bono singing? Would they drop a new song that way? It was probably just my wishful imagination.
