This was my 7th and last Vertigo show (unless they come back to America for stadiums :)
And for it to my my last show, I can't express the joy I felt was able to end it by being on stage and playing piano with during one of the most beautiful songs by the most phoenominal band in history.
I had a sign that a said "Me + Piano = YAHWEH
I held it up all during "stuck in a moment".
They then went back to the B-Stage and did "Instant Karma" and then began "Yahweh" and I complelty had forgotten about it. No big deal...but then Bono goes over to Edge and I see him making a keyboard motion with his hand and talking in his ear. All of a sudden Bono says "Ok where's the Geezer(?) who wants to play Piano" ?
The people around me, including myself just went nuts and before i knew it, I was walking to the ellipse towards the piano.
I was so nervous because i was hoping they were in the key of C. I took a deep breath and hit the first chord...YES!!!
Bono and Edge joined me at the piano and then Bono went back to the main stage while Edge stayed and winked at me while were playing. It was amazing :)
then i hit a rouge spot....apparently Bono was telling me to "hit the piano up high like a bell"...but i just couldnt for the life of me make out what he was telling me to do. I just kept hearing "bell...bell...bell" At first i was like..."is he asking me to play Jingle Bells??"
Edge then kinda saved me and we finished the song.
Edge gave me a big hug and shook my hand, and said "great job man".
Bono did the same and I headed back with a little "leap" of joy on the ellipse.
Greatest show of my life.
:)
