by Mum & Tom(Its long)

So how come a 48yr old mother of two and her 14 yr old son are walking in the pouring rain through the Irish countryside accompanied by young Irishmen in varying stages of inebriacy?
Rewind some months-Tom,an ardent Red Hot Chili fan, says "You like U2 mum, why don't we go to Ireland?" Me-"No way"
The day the tickets go on line-Tom "What about Ireland?" Me-"Well I've always wanted to go to Ireland,Hmm o.k."
We log on. Sold out.
Few weeks later purchase "Sunday Times"-"Win U2 tickets." We just know we are going to win. We do.
Arrive Dublin Friday, have to collect tickets from Principle Management, whatever that is. Arrive at PM-appears to be U2 office-photos and gold discs every where.
The day dawns-wet-long bus ride-loooong walk. Many ticket checks-have to abandon bottled water!
Arrive at Castle- forgot to mention tickets are for the Heart!
Enter Heart and settle down for the duration.
Relish we both enjoyed.JJ72 we didn't. Kelis started and I thought I was going to really enjoy her but after 10 minutes I felt she really wasn't getting anywhere.
Coldplay were marvellous, having the album I sang along with every song.(Tom didn't)
Break for the Chilis-last chance for the loo.25 minute queue and pretty gruesome-a definite negative on the whole day.
Over to Tom for the Chili review-Well the Chili peppers gave a trade mark explosive show. Play songs mainly from the Californication album, two new songs and of course the old classics like "Give it Away", "Under the bridge" and "Higher ground". Of course everyone had to swing there tee-shirts around there heads and 80,000 people doing that is quite a sight. All in all what a fan expects and they weren't disapointed.
What Tom fails to mention is that his mum catches a drum stick for him.
Next the big wait for U2-Tom spots Chad Smith, the Chili drummer and asks him for a photo. He kindly obliges and even checks to see if it has come out O.K. Also manage to snap Woody Harrelson.
Then "The Boys are Back in Town", followed by "Sergeant Pepper" then there they are. The crowd erupts and we are elevated. The night passes in a haze of great songs and memories. Streets of no name stands out as does One,With and Without you, and the touching tribute to Bono's dad.We are right under the walkway, within feet of Bono and Edge and Tom managed to get some great pix.
Bono just oozes charisma(well in this sad old lady's opinion)
Then it's all over-fireworks and the long, long walk back to the bus.
