Tonight's performance was great, but I think that the audience could have reacted better. Even though Tampa is my "home show," I always feel a bit disappointed with the audiences (back to Popmart).
Since the moment Institute went on until the moment U2 left the stage, I felt like both bands were trying too hard to get some audience involvement or reaction. A few songs, such as Streets, Vertigo, Elevation, and Miss Sarajevo got pretty good attention, but the rest seemed to go unheard. Which was a shame. In comparision to the other Florida shows, Miami 1 would rank about an 8.0 Miami 2 would rank a 9.0 and Tampa would rank about a 7.5 (10 being highest).
Bono's voice continues to amaze me as with every tour, and every show, he sounds so incredibly powerful. Physically and soulfully.
I was surprised to see First Time back on the set list. There were also no songs from Boy again (can't help being addicted to Electric Co.).
There were a lot of families in the Ellipse tonight, which I think is great. Parents - please protect your child's ears. Sam had to give both the boy and girl who came up on stage ear plugs.
In addition to the children, someone was brought up on stage for With or Without You. I think this was the first time I have ever seen a girl who was a good 2-3 inches taller than Bono on stage. It was interesting to watch them dance. He also kissed her on her hands a couple of times. Lucky girl?
