Finally arrived home in Wales after a weekend that cannot be beat. As everyone else seems to be saying, I was on Zoo TV and Popmart but this was something else. I have no time for people who say 'U2 are going back to there roots' or 'They lost it on Pop and Popmart and Zooropa'. For me the Achtung Baby and Zooropa era was unbeatable and Zoo TV the best they would ever be. I WAS WRONG. Turin was the most emotional concert I've been to and I've been to Dublin. BAD was as good as I imagined it would be and the ending to WOWY was plucked from the Rattle and Hum video (There best ever version). THE FLY is revamped and just sees Bono at his most Cathartic. But the highlight, with G8 just a couple of hundred kilometres away, the sad death of the protester and Bono's earlier visit to Genoa made for a SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY which for me was up there with the Rattle & Hum version on video for shere raw emotion, more so as I was actually there. Anger, and a demand for a change being the overriding message. 'Violence is never right' Bono shouted over and over again and the crowd was responded, demonstrating the same feeling.
Thank you Italy and Turin, the Italian crowd was the best I've been in, friendly, passionate and beautiful girls aswell.
See you all in London on August 18th
