Definitely the best show in L.A. since the first leg of the Zoo TV tour. The crowd is loud and pumped - one could tell that Bono was very impressed. Here's a recap:
Vertigo features a fan throwing an Irish flag to Bono which he uses as cuffs, a veil and a matador's cape. Great ending with Bono singing Patti Smith's "Rock and Roll Nigger".
Elevation is a terrific crowd-singalong and Electric Co. ends with the Who's "See Me, Feel Me".
Miracle Drug begins with a long Bono intro about how Edge is from a distant planet in the future and came to Earth with the four notes of the song.
Bono grabs a young, shy little girl from the ellipse to sit by him during Sunday Bloody Sunday - but it takes her awhile to get comfortable.
Bono kills the operatic Pavarotti vocal part in Miss Sarajevo - he really belts it out. Very impressive considering how deep into the tour we are.
First encore ends with Bono leading the crowd in singing Happy Bday to Larry.
The undeniable highlight of the show was Bono plucking the four ladies of Exit from the crowd and giving them the band's instruments to play a blistering version of "Out of Control". They killed! The crowd absolutely roared for them as they walked the ellipse after the song. They deserved it.
Fast Cars fell a little flat - which was too bad. I was looking fwd to hearing it.
All around a great show. The decible level of the crowd really made the night something special.
