watching my daughter's band, EXIT, play on U2's stage at staples center before 20,000 screaming fans: priceless
i had to wait a few days before writing this review, only because it's been so insane i needed more time to gather my thoughts. only my second U2 show ever, the first being during the first leg of elevation tour. an amazing show, and most here have explained it very well. i was so excited the entire day from when we arrived mid-afternoon thru the entire concert. it was fun seeing bono as he arrived late for sound-check as usual.
highlights for me were seeing a rip-roaring live version of electric co. - edge was on fire, even though i guess he was sick and didn't sing much; along with 40 and fast cars, which i had been hoping for since i first heard the song on the cd. bono was in a playful mood the entire evening, and i knew we were in for a treat. i got to hear everything i wanted except crumbs or original, but since i was coming back the next night, hoped for a change in set list to hear the others on my wish list.
spending the concert in the empty seat in front of my son (instead of my own a section away) enabled the both of us to enjoy the indescribable sensation of watching EXIT's career get a booster shot together. we were blown away by the crowd response! since we already know how good they are, it was great to see them on a really big stage with a supportive audience. thanks, jonathan for the video! if anyone else has other videos and audios of the show it would be much appreciated!
some fact corrections from neal's review: exit's guitarist was pulled up right after angel of harlem and played people get ready last tour. and they did get the larry mullen t shirts as souvenirs.
