This was my 6th show of the Elevation tour and the 4th on the second leg.
This was the last gig of 3 ( woo hoo!) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and it was an amazing show and I think the best of the 3 nights in LA. ( altho all 3 were way above average in my opinion) I've seen the show twice from the heart, and once from nosebleeds. For last night I was behind the stage. The energy of the crowd was amazing. The sound at Staples was incredible, which was nice because last Monday (LA1) the sound wasn't so great. And Bono paid a lot of attention to all of us in the back! Sitting back there is really cool. The energy was just as good as anywhere else in the arena.
In the intro to Out of Control, Bono mentioned KROQ ( legendary Rock radio station in LA that has long supported U2) and got a huge response from the crowd. Bono sang something about being Into the Heart and then I realized he was singing a line from "Into the Heart"!
Bono was especially energetic during Sunday Bloody Sunday which I thought was a particulary impassioned performance. Kite was amazing too and was prefaced by some really heartfelt statements by Bono about his father. Very very touching and different than the the previous shows I saw on this leg. I think Please had to be my favorite number of last night.
Mysterious Ways was added to the set last night and was completely unexpected. I really think they should keep that song in the set! Last nights version of Bad was probably the best version of it I've heard live complete with the sequeway into Who's Gonna Ride your Wild Horses.
A young girl was pulled on stage during Wild Honey. She just stood there while Edge and Bono sang to her. I was pretty far away when they were at the tip but she looked like she was having the time of her life. (DUH!)
Bono grabbed an American Flag for his run around the heart in the intro to Streets. That just got the whole crowd going even more. That was the best part of the night to me. Just an all around good feeling that I didn't want to end!!
But it did end as last night was my last show of the Elevation Tour.
I won't ever forget it!
