This particular summer my cousin and I went to Europe to visit a friend living in southern Sweden. To our suprise my friend had bought tickets to this concert before we arrived. The day of the concert we drove up to Stockholm and before heading to the stadium we decided we would drive by a famous hotel to see if U2 might be staying there. When we arrived there was a crowd and two limos out front. One limo for Larry, Adam, and the Edge, and another for Bono. We pulled up next to one of the limos and saw the band get in and take off, while Bono is in the middle of this big crowd of fans and reporters trying to make his way to his limo. So we start following the first limo as its headed to the stadium...pretty incredible to follow U2 to a show!
As for the concert, it was amazing as expected. I will never forget the introduction to "Bad" as U2 had a satellite hookup with a bunker in Sarajevo. Bono interviewed a woman who's fiance was at the show and she did not know if they would ever see each other again. It was very emotional and she said something to the effect of how we could go on and enjoy a rock concert but they had to live with the war. The crowd was silent and Bono dedicated "Bad" to her and her fiance.
Another highlight was Bono introducing "Stay" as a song "about an angel" and that it was the first time they had performed the song live. It was a very amazing rendition. A very great concert.
