U2 have done it again! They simply blew their audience away yet again! The rain tried but failed to ruin the concert. Like clockwork the downpour stopped as Pop Muzik cranked up, announcing to the Sydney crowd that U2 had arrived! It's hard to decide which was better, the visual display or the amazing sound coming out of the Pop Mart speakers. The crowd loved every minute of the concert with Bono thanking everyone for giving the band "A great life."
Every song was perfect and the acoustic version of Desire, with a tongue in cheek dedication to Reverand Fred Nile, was a classic. The Edge's solo version of Sunday Bloody Sunday was brilliant, showing that this guy is just one of the greatest musicians on the planet, but a mighty fine singer! Basically the concert was a non-stop thrill ride with the huge Pop Mart screen forming an eye-dazzling backdrop to a performance by the greatest live band on the planet!
The tribute to Bono's mate Michael Hutchence in his home town was a really moving experience. As the rain fell on the crowd and Bono called for the lights off the lightning above the stadium sporadically lit the stadium up as the band played. It was as if Michael Hutchence was calling out to his friend on stage saying 'thanks mate.' Then again it could have been just part of the extravaganza that is Pop Mart........with U2, you just never know, is there anything these guys can't do?!?
I've bought the CD's, got the T-Shirt, now lets wait for the video, I can't wait!!!
