I traveled from Mexico City to Monterrey with a group of fans. We arrived in Monterrey the day before the concert.
As I hadn’t seen the stadium production, I didn’t know what to expect. We entered the Tecnologico Stadium in time to hang round the venue and buy both some food and souvenirs. The latter were by far cheaper than in the States and Canada - not the same quality though.
Generally speaking, this gig was very much like the ones U2 gave in Europe with Vertigo opening and closing the night. Of course it had some special moments! The first one was when Bono spoke in Spanish and said: “Perdon por tardar tanto en regresar” (I’m sorry It took us so long to come back). Apart from this, it was very special to listen to Bad with that great snatch of Cielito Lindo at the end. Another point worth mentioning is that this time African flags were not displayed during Where The Streets Have No Name, Latin American flags were displayed instead. At one point the Mexican flag was highlighted. Last but not least, Bono introduced one in Spanish.
All in all this was a great night.
