Its said that wine gets better with age so too does u2!Having seen the band live on every tour of Australia,I can tell you categorically that tonights show in Melbourne was the best Ive seen! From the opening of City of Blinding Lights you knew that this was going to be something special. And so it was.Of course the classics were there (Streets,Pride,Beautiful Day,One)played with almost renewed vigour and urgency but it was songs that we in Australia either havent heard live before or for a very long time.Angel of Harlem,Until the End of the World,Sunday Bloody Sunday,Still Havent Found... and Mysterious ways were highlights as was Bono's Pavarotti vocal on Miss Sarajevo (spine tingling!!!!!)
It appeared as though the band had decided that an extra song was going to be added without telling Bono as the band closed of an unforgettable show with,I believe, their greatest live song Bad(It brought a tear to my eye).A stunning show brought to an amazing end!So we took Bono's advice and went home to our beds as a sea of humanity never seen at Telstra Dome before slowly made its way outside safe in the knowledge that the greatest band in the world is still on top of its game!My hope is that we never again have to wait 8 years to see the greatest live band in history!!!
