What can I say? If you've seen U2 on this tour then you know how it is. I flew into Vegas to visit a friend for a couple of days and to see U2. Actually, I planned my trip around the show. I thought that I had come a long way from Nashville to see them but I met people for all over. New Jersey, Boston, Phoenix, even Alaska!!! And might I add, no one went home disappointed. This was my 4th show on this tour, 1st of the third leg. I pretty much knew what to expect as the set list goes but "Wild Honey" and the bit of "...Wild Horses" in "Bad" were true gems to hear. Also, I'm glad to see "I Still Haven't Found..." and "Please" back in the set again. POP is such an overlooked album.
After the events of September 11th I truely did not know how so many people could have so much positive energy, but U2 reached down and drew that energy strait out of the crowd. The combination of "One" followed by "Walk On" has been a delight since I first heard them play it in Atlanta but this time around it was a true step toward healing. It was also nice to hear Bono talk about the times they've had in Vegas. His comment about the giant lemon shapped mirrorball being ordinary there were quite humorous. He also seemed to really enjoy "Elvis" being in the front, next to the stage.
All in all it was a great show and a wonderful time of celebration. Thank you guys for taking the reigns and being the spiritual leaders that a world of wanderers need. See you next week in Atlanta.
