Tonight, wait for tonight. This is what I kept saying to myself for the last 3 or so months when I got myself 2 tickets for the upper section of this show. The first time I have seen them live. To me, this was the greatest show of my life, because I could finally listen to the songs I have been longing to hear since I was 15 years old, back in 1997. The show opened with Love and Peace, with the greatest energy only U2 can give. Bono smashing the drums was just out of order! The show kept on moving from new to old, old to new… From a little child crawling on the floor in An Cat Dubh, to the renewed energy of City of Blinding Lights… and that was Chicago tonight, only tonight for my eyes.
As the new songs such as Miracle Drug, dedicated to the city of Chicago… a city of the future… because WE believe in the future… it had such a feeling… we saw it coming, right after Bono dedicated a song to his father, which I believe is just an amazing thing… it was coming: a chain of songs which kept on growing and growing; starting with a grand performance of New Year’s day, going into the dark with Bullet the Blue Sky, the best introduction you can have for a Dublin story which is Running to Stand Still… Alle, Alle, Allelujah… and then, then came Bad, with the greatness it has always had… the best song of the show… Lights went on with Pride and where the Streets have no Name so beautifully until I had to wipe One tear, with One love, One life… the song my father loved. We can forget about the errors in the past, and we should celebrate the future which is in our hands.
I don’t know if this review will ever get Posted, I don’t know if I will ever see U2 again, but as for today, I have taken one week to think about this and … I feel so lucky to have gone at least One time in my life… I could go through with that. I want to thank my friend Salvador who was also there and all the people such as my mother and family who are always in my heart in everything I do. I had to come a long way from Mexico for 2 hours that touched me and will remain in my heart and soul forever.
Thank you, Bono, Adam, Larry, Edge… God bless you all.
