Wow! Much better than Saturday night. Rocco came onto the tip of the ellipse before the band took the stage to tell us about how they are filming the DVD and said it would be a magic show.

Early on I was a bit worried as Bono took a lot of swigs of water and said he had a frog in his throat. However, his voice was great and the band had a lot of energy overall. One bead of lights was blue almost the whole show (obviously broken) so I wonder if they'll just use close-ups for the DVD or other shots from other Chicago shows.

I liked that Stories for Boys snippet returned to the end part of Vertigo. I also liked the inclusion of Smashing Pumpkins' Bullet with Butterfly Wings "Despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage" into Electric Co.

Adam came around the ellipse a lot again too which was great.

I saw Paul McGuiness outside the ellipse during Mysterious Ways and shook his hand. I talked to Rocco after the show telling how much better it was than Saturday's show and he said the band was nervous on Saturday.

I also saw Gavin Friday by the soundboard and shook his hand as well.

The best part of the night was of course after Yahweh Bono told the band to hold on. He saw the advertisement of chords for Party Girl and pulled her up! She was much taller than Bono so he made a joke about big beautiful women coming from Chicago (he also spoke a lot more the whole show about Chicago and even said he thanks us for listening to him going on and on over the years and how when he was 24 he fell in love in a chicago hotel room with miles davis and he fell in love with Chicago and how they played to about 100 people 20-25-23 years ago and he thought Chicago had fallen in love with them.) Bono asked her what song, she said "party girl" and started playing it on Edge's acoustic guitar at the tip of the ellipse. The rest of the band went back to the main stage and waited. The woman was a bit nervous and messed up and froze at one point; we all yelled you can do it! She continued with Bono's encouragement and he sang it as she played! It was great, she even attempted the solo. Very good stuff!

This freshness, spontaneity, and fun are what make the best U2 shows.
