While distant from the stage, sitting behind the soundboard has its advantages: seeing every possible camera angle and a "director's cut" of the eventual DVD. This was my twelfth U2 show and I’m not sure whether it ranks in the top 10 or not… I was surprised how much “City of Blinding Lights” impressed me, but overall the show seemed to lack SOMETHING… My wife and I cannot pinpoint it, though. Cohesion, maybe… The crowd was moderately energized –save for the social U2 drinkers, who continuously cycled between the arena and the beverage stands during newer songs! The concert obviously had its highs (one of the crispest live renditions of "New Year's Day" and the Zoo Baby Roulette) and lows (the band occasionally lost tempo and flow), but the raw bits will all be edited out in time for an XMAS release date. We have seats behind the stage for the next two Chicago shows, so maybe a change of perspective will change our opinions.
