PHENOMENAL!!!
They were on FIRE!! It is a bit of a shame that, I'm sure because of fan reaction, Electric Co/An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart got cut out but the flow of the set list and Bono's speeches was so much better. Even though I think Bono's voice was a little more hoarse than Tuesday night, hearing Edge sing more to help his buddy out, and hearing the fans carry some of the songs was a very intense and energetic experience.
I might be the only one, but I do prefer City of Blinding Lights as an opener...but I LOVED LOVED LOVED Original Of The Species as part of the main set. Even Yahweh, my least favorite song, sounded so incredible!!! I have such a new appreciation for the album after the last two shows.
After Tuesday's performance, I was happy to have seen my favorite band. But after Thursday's performance, I wanted to convert everyone to the Church of U2! I love that they mixed up the set list a little. I love that Until The End of The World was played (although, I would also miss Zoo Station). I love that Gloria was played. I love that Bad/40 closed the show (THE BEST closing of a U2 show ever, in my opinion). I loved watching Bono, Edge and Adam gather around the drum kit as Larry finished his set at the end of the show...that moment right there is why they are the biggest band in the world - when all is said and done, their friendship after all of these years, is bigger than anything else.
P.S. Props to U2, Ticketmaster, whomever for releasing tickets yesterday morning....well worth the investment!!!
