This was my third Elevation show and it was by far the best. This show also marked the price-level circuit for me. After having sat in the $130/$85/$45 sections, GA is where its at for sure! We were just outside the heart to the right of the tip, maybe three rows of people back. But location aside, this show really had something to it. The show opened with its usual high-octane tunes (Elevation, BD, Until The End..., etc....) and was strong all the way through. Sunday was very cool with Bono picking up an American Flag from the crowd and then just holding it, like he was comforting it. Very touching.
The encores were the best though with One being the absolute highlight of the entire show. To have One played while the names of all those lost on the flights of 9/11 was powerful, powerful stuff, not to mention moving. I can't EVER remember crying at a rock & roll show - that all changed on 10/16 with One. Bono even looked a bit choked up either at the end of One or Walk On. New York was also played as part of the encore set and it was a defiant piece with attitude-to-boot, lyrics changed to reflect a very dark day.
I've been to seven U2 shows since the arena tour of Zoo TV and I have to say that this was the best gig I've ever seen. Ever. Period. The bottom line is this: U2 make outstanding music that tends to touch just about everyone in one way or another. They are an incredible band with (hopefully) many more years to come. May God bless them.
