This was my second show and much better than the first one! Saw them in Milwaukee in may from the stands and I swore that if they came back to the area for another leg, I'd be on the floor. 3 hrs of driving through horrible Chicago traffic later + 9 hrs of freezing in line, it was well worth it! (I have to say, U2 fans are the nicest; we were provided gloves, food and blankets for free). We ended up 2nd row to the right of the tip of the heart, so close I touched Bono twice!
In general, I think the concert was excellent; yes, Bono's voice was so scratchy, I was initially worried, but you could tell he fed from the crowd's energy to make up for it....and energy there was, especially during "All I want is you" and "Pride". But the highlight to me was seeing Bono hold the american flag during "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and the deserving tribute to the 9/11 victims; I cried both times!
As far as the set list, I couldn't care less what they play; they're simply the best band in the world and I was thrilled to be there, so close! (my only regret is, I didn't know cameras were allowed).
The emotions I experienced that day will be with me forever; it borders on the religious level. I thank God for them.
God bless them for coming to the US on such troubled times to "elevate us".
