This was a magical date. Flew to NY all the way from Bolivia, South America, had no tickets for the show nor a place to spend the night at Philly...endep up getting a face value GA, did not get into the elipse, but was pretty damn close to the walking stage (three or four people away)and got to know a few die hard fans that took great care of me.
The show opened with City of Blinding Lights..somehow it seemed perfect..Bono appeared out of nowhere right at the front end of the elipse, ran into the mic " the more you see the less you know..." People were really into it.
Next, we are right into vertigo, everything is going smooth until the pause in the middle of the song..Bono tried to improvise a verse and went off beat. This is what is great about U2... they managed to come back and not fall apart in a matter of a split second.
Best songs of the evening: Love Peace or else ( electrifying),Yahweh( acoustic version), Sometimes YCMOYO ( very moving, Bono at its best), Miracle Drug (people sang this tune as if it had been around forever).
I disagree with some of the reviews I have read about this show. To me it was fantastic and, in the words of my good friend Patrick Clark, "these guys were on fire"
I will see them the next for dates an post other reviews and hopefully add the pictures when I get back to my country.
