Everyone....EveryONE....EVERYONE!!
The magical words that mark the beggining of each show. Tonight the guys of U2 were at their best. Bono interacted more with the crowd than any of the previous shows I have attended on this tour. He took pictures, got one guy with many ONE tatoos on its body, and gave a girl the time of her life having her for two songs in a row on stage....that led to the inevitable With or Without You. Bono does not kiss the girls anymore, well at least not in the mouth as the girl was probably expecting.
Highlights: Running to Stand Still, Bono did not play the harmonica and tried to play an openning solo that sounded.. , well, sounded like Bono playing the guitar. Still a great song though.
Miracle Drug, Adam Clayton actually missed a note. I like to notice this sort of things, because it reminds me that U2 are human. Their perfomances are so perfect and flawless, that it is a treat to see how they react on stage when one of them screws up. Of course, this does not happen too often but when it does, yu can see their suppoortive smiles to each other and that is a symbol of why they are the greatest band in the world and have stayed together for so long.
Vertigo, few words in spanish, but Bono is pronouncing the words uno, dos , tres, catorce! without an english accent anymore.
Zoo Station, The Edge sang this song very close to the crowd and he had an amazing smile on his face. He is truly the twin soul voice of Bono. During Yahweh the back up vocals he does steal the protagonism from Bono!
The Philadelphia crowd kept cheering " how long, to sing this song.." at many times during the show, and at the end of the encore for more than five minutes. I was hoping the band would come out and do Vertigo one more time as they did in NJ May 17, or at the MSG. but I guess they were drained from the show the previous night.
This has been my 4th show in a row, and the last one for this leg. Having flown from Bolivia just for the shows has been a great experience. U2 fans are a unique breed of human beings. I have met so many good people that have helped me during this time and with whom I have shared the U2 adventure. I want to thank all of them, and although chances of seing each other are slim to none, we will always be connected through the music of the band.
