I made the trip with a friend from Toronto to Philly to see the band. After an 8 hour car ride, I wasn't sure what to expect, where we would be in the GA floor, or if the boys of U2 would be bang on. I was a little worried that they might be lacking in energy since they played MSG the night before.
I got to the arena and I was 54th in line. I spent a wonderful day singing, hanging with fellow fans from across the states, and sharing our U2 stories. People were suprised I made the trip.
Time to go in and my ticket allowed me to go into the ellipse! Front row centre baby.....it was like it was a dream! And as far as energy was concerned....the boys were bang on! I have been close a few times before so I really wanted Bono to recognize me again. So I came once again with my "Our Church" sign. (Bono once said going to a U2 show is better than church). Needless to say, I was filled with the spirit and those around me as well.
Some major surprises were, seeing Larry sing throughout the first set, seeing Larry smile so often, watching Edge switch to lots of different guitars, watching Bono bang the drums, seeing Larry play the small keyboard, and watching Adam play the keyboard at the start of the show.
Bono made eye contact with me several times....as well as a sweet peace sign during Yahweh. I don't know how I could have ever doubted my favourite band. I thought they might just be going through the motions. It was absolutely fantastic.
My friend and I giggled and laughed like two schoolgirls all the way home back to Toronto. Can't wait to see you boys again in the Fall. That's what it is exactly like when you've seen the band 11 times. Seeing old friends! I'm gonna upload some pictures!
