What a excellent show! The band was groovin. Bono's voice was just fine. The set list was great. And they seemed top appreciate how "Monday Nights" are in Philadelphia! Bruce being there was great too. It was nice for me b/c my first U2 show was the September 25, 1987 show that Bruce showed up at. They sang that night People Get Ready (I believe Bruce sang PGR with them) and Stand By Me.
I like how U2 are trying to be a little more free with the set list this leg of the tour. It gives a spontaneity that they need, especially with every set list available on the internet. It's nice going in not being sure what they are going to play in certain spots of the show!
One funny moment was when Bono thanked John Street (mayor of Phila) for helping with Live 8 and the crowd immediately booed. Bono asked if he was missing something. Unfortunately the B- man did not know that Street is not a popular guy in Philly! People also booed a little at the end of I still haven't found. Anyone know why?
Highlights:
-I will Follow and Electric Co/The Edge was sizzling
-Streets/I don't know that this song can ever be taken out of their concerts
-Miss S/Great performance and didn't lose the crowd at all in my opinion
-Still Haven't Found/Was nice to hear
-Love and Peace/Just Awesome Live!
-Walk On instead of First Time acoustic!
-The band's comfortableness on the stage!
-The sound was much better than the Elevation tour!
Lowlights:
-Pride just has to go as a staple. Pull it out every once and awhile.
-More songs from HTDAAB! Crumbs would be a great fit during the Human Rights part in place of Pride
-And through in Original of the Species somewhere at the end. I think they ran out of time b/c of the Bruce segment.
-I would of loved to see the Zoo set like earlier in the tour, but you can't have it all!
Plus, I was hoping that the crowd had Bono juiced enough that he was going to call for Vertigo again, but it was not to be.
Overall, again, just EXCELLENT!
