Ok..by now, you know last night's show was amazing. Definitely the best of the four Philly shows, and I'm sure it ranks in the top five on this tour. I was worried about a Monday night hangover for this show, but that wasn't the case at all. The crowd was incredible. I've been in the Ellipse or on the floor for all four shows, so I'm not sure how it is in the seats, but when Arcade Fire comes on, and everyone knows to do the first "ooh, ooh" chant, it is incredible. The Ellipse crowd tonight and the floor crowd were so amped....I knew it was a good show when I saw three girls pulled out of the crowd for fainting.
Anyway, you know the setlist and you know Bruce came out. My other highlights were:
-The Edge is from the Future speech before Miracle Drug. It gave the sense that Bono was there to have fun that night, rather than doing the standard thankyou to the doctors and nurses and future of medicine speech.
-Seeing The Edge two feet from you jam on Electric Co. is simply incredible.
-Letting the little girl chant "No More" into the microphone during Sunday Bloody Sunday.
-Not bringing a girl up during With or Without You and actually performing it as a rock song and not a ballad.
- Total improv of People Get Ready and singing that "New York will have tears in their eyes" because they will be so jealous of this perfomance.
- The extra long and loud applause after Streets, that left me and Bono both saying "wow".
He was definitely impressed.
-The fact that Bono doesn't know the words to Walk On (lyrics were taped at the type of the Ellipse and were taped on the front stage during the encore break).
-Handing the microphone to the Brazillian girl who spoke Brazillian to Bono, telling them Brazil loves them and misses them on this tour.
-The Edge and Bono doing the salsa dance during Fast Cars.
Yes, we were supposed to get Original of the Species and Bad, but due to the lengthy People Get Ready they abbreviated to 40.
Joshua Tree at JFK will always be my favorite U2 concert, but this one ranks a close 2nd.
