Wow. That show was amazing and I have been to all four shows this tour and about 15 in total going back to April 24, 1985. I, too, was at the 1987 performance with Bruce--in the first row of GA--and in my opinion this time was better, although on both occasions it was incredible. There was more joking around this time and it was really fun. To answer someone's question: the crowd was not booing at the end of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. Bono sang a snippet of Bruce's song, Promised Land, so the crowd was yelling BRUUUUUUCE, not booing. Not to be confused with the undeniable booing after mention of John Street.
I cannot complain about the set list and think that if the band are playing the songs that the band enjoys playing then the concert will be much better than if they are playing songs they don't like to play live or are tired of playing live. I think the whole set list thing is tricky and no matter what the band does there will be some people who are unhappy. I especially enjoyed Fast Cars and Miss Sarajevo. I wish Bono had brought even one person on stage last night. I think that always adds something.
The crowd was great except that in my section, 114, every 5 minutes groups of people were leaving to go to the bathroom or concessions and it was REALLY irritating.
Please come back to Philly before the tour ends. We cannot wait another 4 years...
