Musician and TV host Jools Holland had one of his wishes come true tonight when U2 made its first appearance and performance on his BBC 2 TV show, Later With... Jools Holland. The band opened the 30-minute live show with the first performance of "Volcano," and then closed the show with "Every Breaking Wave."

On Friday, a recorded, 60-minute version of Later With... will air, and that should include an interview with U2 and possibly a third live song.

Next up for U2 is a performance/interview on Friday in Germany in front of a live audience, although at this point the venue and city have not even been announced.

UPDATE: Via @U2UKFanFeed, who were at the show tonight, U2's third song was the first live performance of "California (There Is No End To Love)."
